Gayle Williams Chappell, passed away January 5, 2013, from complications of pneumonia. She was born August 6, 1956, in Meridian, MS, to Hugh and Gladys Williams.

She spent her school days in both Atlanta, GA, and Houston, TX, where she graduated from Houston Baptist University in 1979, with a Fine Arts degree in Speech and Theater. She had a passion for theater and performed in numerous local productions. She worked At the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. On August 30, 1990 she married Thomas Chappell and they moved to Farmington Hills, MI.

Gayle was an accomplished pianist and played for her church, First United Methodist Church, where she was active with the children’s choir.

Gayle is survived by her daughter, Shelly, Tom Chappell, her parents: Gladys and Hugh Williams of Houston,her sister Carol (Bobby) Surles of Houston, niece: Cameran Surles of Los Angeles, nephew: Taylor Surles of Galveston, TX.

There will be a Celebration of Gayle’s life Saturday 11 a.m., January 12th, at First United Methodist Church of Farmington, 33112 Grand River Ave., Farmington, MI 48336. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Music Program at the Church.
